Last Thursday morning, pupils from Simon Marks Primary School, took to the stage, thrilling prospective parents at the school’s Open Day.
The nurturing, one-form entry school in Stoke Newington chose to showcase their curriculum enrichment programme at the Open Day. An impressive mash-up was sung by the pupils alongside their growing orchestra, performing on instruments ranging from bassoon, trombone and flute to keyboard and trumpet. Music teacher, Paul Russell said “Music is embedded in the DNA of Simon Marks Jewish Primary; it is a pleasure to teach here each week with such talented and dedicated students.”
Following the show, prospective parents were treated to a tour of the school by Year Six pupils. Headteacher Gulcan Metin Asdoyuran, said: “The children of Simon Marks never cease to impress me. I am extremely proud of their talents and musical achievements. They put on a fantastic show directed by our very talented music teacher Mr Paul Russell.”
In addition to the school’s musical talent, their results for 2017/2018 are well above national outcomes for Key Stage One and Two.
