Borehamwood & Elstree United Synagogue recently hosted a special ceremony to unveil a new IDF Honours Board, recognising those who have served in the Israeli army or completed National Service in Israel. The board was placed in a prominent position in the foyer of the synagogue.
The event was attended by 150 participants, including the Chief Rabbi and President of the Board of Deputies. The ceremony was followed by a reception.
The event was organised by Rabbi Sam Taylor, Rabbi of Borehamwood & Elstree Synagogue. He said: “The IDF Honours Board Dedication ceremony was a very special and important event for our shul. We commissioned the board to honour those who have served in the Israeli Army or completed National Service in Israel; they are role models for us all, we look up to them and have tremendous gratitude for the sacrifices they have made for our people. This clear message is one we want to send to all in our community, but particularly young people. The board was designed to be half full in the hope that over the coming years, more people will be honoured.”
