About KLBD

Welcome

The Kashrut Division of the London Beth Din (KLBD) is a leading authority on Jewish dietary laws, recognised both in the United Kingdom and internationally. Operating under the auspices of the Chief Rabbi and the Court of the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth, KLBD has been a cornerstone of kosher certification for over a century.

As Europe’s largest kosher certification agency and one of the top five globally, KLBD certifies approximately 40,000 ingredients and over 3,500 retail products across six continents. Its certification mark is widely trusted by manufacturers and consumers worldwide.

KLBD licenses around 160 establishments, including caterers, bakeries, restaurants, food manufacturers, delis, shops, schools, and care homes. It also supervises approximately 3,000 catered events annually. In addition, KLBD certifies over 2,200 factories in 87 countries, reflecting its extensive global reach.

The organisation’s team comprises world-class technical experts with qualifications in chemistry and food technology, alongside experienced production and commercial consultants. This expertise allows KLBD to tackle complex production challenges, particularly in areas such as flavours, aromas, herbal extracts, dairy ingredients, and fats and oils.

KLBD is committed to maintaining the highest kosher standards. All dairy bakeries, caterers, and restaurants under its supervision use only Chalav Yisrael (fully supervised) milk and cheese products. Meat restaurants serve only Glatt meat (with Chalak Beit Yosef meat available upon request). Additionally, all meat restaurants and catered functions have full-time supervision by rigorously trained shomrim (supervisors).

With its unwavering dedication to upholding Jewish dietary laws and its extensive global operations, KLBD continues to be a trusted partner in kosher certification, ensuring the highest standards for both consumers and manufacturers.
