Sale of Chametz

It is essential that all chametz is disposed of or sold to a non-Jew before Pesach. Although the non-Jew usually sells it back after Pesach, this is an entirely valid and legal sale, both in Jewish and English Law. The chametz to be sold should be securely locked away in a room or cupboard, which will not be used over Pesach. It is customary to arrange the sale through one’s local rabbi. In cases where this is not practical, chametz may be sold via the KLBD.

All forms must be received by 12 noon on Monday 30th March 2026.

Please note that all chametz sold will be repurchased by KLBD at approximately 9pm on Thursday 9th April, so it should not be used before that time.

If you will be outside the UK for Pesach, please state below the country where you will be staying. If you are planning to be further east than Israel, this sale will not cover you and should contact a Rabbi of that area to arrange the sale. Power of Attorney

I hereby appoint Rabbi E Schoemann to act as my agent to arrange the sale of all the chametz that will be in my possession as of Wednesday 1st April at 12 noon. By submitting this form, I authorise him to act in my stead and empower him to do all that is required to make such a sale valid, in order that I conform to all the halachic requirements and restrictions relating to the possession of chametz over Pesach. Any Agreement of Sale (Shtar Mechirah) that he may use for this purpose is included in this authorisation.*
